Your blog reads like the Bible of Islay: informative and a pleasure. Thank You. I have the pleasure of being a member of a select Malt Group based in Mumbai, India and we plan on visiting the Islay area in early September for obvious academic reasons. Reading your blog brings us closer to realize our dream. Thanks again for sharing your impressions and experiences with the rest of us.

Great Islay series. My brothers and I just got back from a visit there: heaven.

We toured Lagavulin, Laphroaig and Bruichladdich — all delightful but I came away a huge Bruichladdich fan. They’re having a ball, experimenting with all kinds of expressions.

I met Jim McEwen, the head distiller, and congratulated them on their 10-year anniversary. When I told him it was the same day as my 50th birthday, he poured a bottle from the Valinch cask (a rare 1998 finished in Calvados casks), signed it and gave it to me as a gift. Made my trip.

To anyone who loves single malts: visit Islay. You won’t be disappointed.
